Mexican pianist and composer Alina Ramirez and bassist, guitarist, composer and arranger Mario Lopez founded IRESON in 1991. Growing up surrounded by the tradition of Latin music, both have incorporated their formal classical training and knowledge of modern harmony to the music they play and compose.

Since the project started, many international musicians have performed with Ireson, bringing its rhythms and energy to festivals, clubs and events. Based in Singapore for almost 16 years, they have performed in Latin Festivals at Chijmes and Fort Canning Park, Mexican Festivals, Concerts for the National Arst Council, Botanical Gardens,Salsa sensations at Marine Parade, NAC-ExxonMobil Concert in the park, Jazz by the Beach, Mosaic Festival and concerts at the Waterfront, Esplanade.

Ireson’s music comes from different sensitivities as different are the backgrounds of each of the members, Its essence blends tradition with contemporary styles, exploring Afro- Latin rhythms such as danzonete, son, bomba, bossa and samba, Mexican and Cuban folklore, etc. and brings a new unique sound.

The first album “Vendo Rumba” was recorded live at No Black Tie together with a brass section. It comprises compositions and arrangements by Mario Lopez (and one by Alina Ramirez). In live performances, we include most of the songs from the CD, and new songs that we are constantly incorporating to our repertoire, composed by Alina, Carlos Sendros and Mario. The CD was presented in Singapore in a sold-out concert at the Esplanade Recital Studio in Singapore on the 14th of February 2012.Ireson also plays dancing music, traditional son and salsa.
